Alpine Skiing, Freestyle Skiing, and Snowboarding
While the Winter Sports School hosts students in all winter sports disciplines, we have an especially strong history in the "mountain" events -- likely due in no small part to the Park City area's exalted status among downhill skiers and snowboarders. Park City is home to three world class mountain facilities, with another seven within an hour's drive.
Both the U.S. Ski Team and the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association are headquartered in Park City and, as of 2008, approximately 20% of the U.S. Ski Team is comprised of Winter Sports School alumni.
As a side note, The U.S. Alpine Ski team produced two medalists at the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics (Julia Mancuso and Ted Ligety); both won gold, and both graduated from the Winter Sports School.
Snowboarders and freestyle ski jumpers will further benefit from our association with the Utah Olympic Park, which boasts trampolines and a fully fledged freestyle splash pool for aerial training needs during our academic year.
