Winter Sports School Community

Enclosed you will find Mid-Term Science grades for Block 2. The final Science grades will be sent out along with the first semester grades for English and History upon our return from vacation June 27. Please contact the appropriate teachers with any questions regarding grades or status.

Nick Francis will complete his teaching at the Winter Sports School with the completion of Block 2. He will be enrolling in a Ph. D. program at the University of Utah. I want to thank Nick for all his hard work and contribution to the Winter Sports School. Nick’s willingness to step into his teaching role at a very difficult time in Winter Sports School history is greatly appreciated. Thank you Nick and we wish you well in your future studies.

We have four new teachers at school beginning Block 3. Paul Barton who is a graduate of California State University, Chico with a Bachelor’s degree in Education will be teaching senior history and Spanish 1. Paul was also a professional soccer player. Chris LaCasse will be teaching Algebra 1. Chris is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He will be taking on most on Nick’s duties. Chris Stoner will be teaching Algebra 2. Chris has retired to Park City after a 25 year career as an emergency room physician. Prior to his career as a doctor he served as a naval aviator. He also served as an adjunct professor in Family Practice / Emergency Medicine at the University of Wyoming. Linda Norquist will be teaching Spanish 5. She is a native of Columbia and will be receiving an M.B.A. from the University of Phoenix at the end of the month. We are very excited to have these new teachers as members of our faculty.

The first break of the year is scheduled from Saturday, June 16, 2007 through Tuesday, June 26, 2007. We resume with Block 3 on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. Enclosed is the class schedule for Block 3. Any questions on the schedule please contact Eric Janes.

Upcoming events will be our annual participation in the Park City Fourth of July parade. We will be having the school wide barbeque on Saturday, July 7, 2007 and enclosed is an invitation for that cookout. Also the Annual Golf Tournament is schedule for Monday, August 20, 2007.
